Computer game genres

Categories in the computer games industry are used to group games based on their style of play or game interactions. The genres in the games market are independent, which means that a title can be classified as an action title, whether it takes place in a fantasy environment of goblins and warlocks or in a futuristic urban environment with aliens and floating cars. .

The following is a list of some popular computer title genres and a description of each. Each of these categories could be 12betthailand several subcategories, but I have not covered any of them in this list.

Action games

Playing action games requires quick reflexes and skills to overcome obstacles very fast and sometimes under pressure from enemy characters. The action games category is very open and covers many types of games, from modern first person shooter games mainly focused on combat or fighting to some early video games like pong or PAC-man.

Adventure games

Everyone loves playing adventure games, being taken to distant lands, with goblins, monsters and spells. Adventure titles were many of the first games created. Starting with text-based adventure games and evolving into the massive adventures, RPGs, and puzzle solving games of today.

Adventure games often require the player to interact directly with their game environment, either through conversations with other characters or by quickly solving problems to move to new areas.

Action and adventure games

The action adventure titles contain all the most important parts of the action and adventure genres. Games often require the player to quickly solve simple puzzles while also directly engaging in fighting situations. These titles usually have open stories in which an action at the beginning of the story can indirectly affect the outcome of not only the current scenario, but also the end of the story.

Role playing games

Role-playing games (RPGs) have come a long way in the last 10 years, due to the influence of the original pen-and-paper games. RPGs are commonly set in ancient or medieval times where players take on traveling adventure roles or mercenaries and go on missions to gain experience and progress in the game.

Fighting, puzzle solving, and conversational persuasion of game characters are very common. Role-playing games (RPGs) can be quite open where the player has a large number of options available and can wander around exploring on their own (i.e. Baldur's Gate) or follow a fairly strict and linear storyline (i.e. Final Fantasy Series ).

RPG titles are often played online with hundreds of other human-played characters. These MMO (Massive Multi-player Online) titles are very popular with games like World of Warcraft and have thousands of players online at once.

Simulation games

Simulation titles frequently place the players' character in a divine role, where they directly control the world as a whole, a city, a theme park, or a railway. These simulation games tend to be grouped into a construction-based subgenre where the character must build a city or theme park from scratch to a hugely popular destination.

There are also simulation titles where you are in control of a single character. Life simulation titles are very popular with teenage gamers, because not only can you control a single character, but sometimes you can take care of an animal so that it does not become a fully grown adult pet. Sometimes you can manage an entire ecosystem like an aquarium.

Strategy

Strategy titles are frequently played by skilled fast-thinking players. Using carefully planned and advanced strategies, your goal is to destroy opposing characters or clans. Strategy games can be both real-time and turn-based.

RTS games are much more complex than turn-based ones, as character decisions are often made on location and during combat with opposing teams. Turn-based games are like chess in that you consider your every move when placing your pieces and, when the time is right, execute your strategies in the hope of winning.
