New England football jersey released - is it one for many?

 

England football jersey for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 can now be pre-ordered, but is this one jersey too far for the loyal fans?

Nike took over from Umbro as England's kit manufacturer in 2013 and released their first England football jersey in May 2013, celebrating England's 150th anniversary.

The white jersey got its eighth and final outing in a 1-0 victory over Denmark on 5 March 2014 at Wembley.

Less than a year after its release and without being worn at a major tournament, both the home jersey and away jersey have been replaced with a new design for the World Cup.

For the first time in England's history, a player version and stadium version have been released, as they do for American football shirts.

The player version shirt costs a staggering £ 90 with the bog standard stadium jersey "only" costing £ 60.

Past players and celebrities have taken to social media like Twitter to air their disapproval of both the cost of the jersey and the frequency of the new jerseys being released.

There seems to be very little consideration by those who make these decisions as it seems to be more about profit than the loyal fans who have less and less money in their pocket these days.

The new England football jersey is designed on the classic England jersey from 1970, which is plain white in color with a V-neck collar.

The positive thing that can be taken from the retirement of the 11 month old jersey before the World Cup in 2014 is that it may be the only England jersey that is never involved in a defeat in a competitive match !!
