The 2010 Champions League final to be played on a Saturday for the first time on May 22 will be the climax of an exciting season of European football. Inter Milan are the big favorites to win after eliminating defending champion Barcelona in the semi-finals. The night's starting game will be played in Spain at the home of Real Madrid. What an atmosphere it could have been if Barcelona had gone all the way to defend their trophy. Unfortunately, master tactician José Mourinho, also known as the Special, dealt the fatal blow to Barcelona by completing a historic Champions League defense.
The Italian champions are in top form for this match and will be looking to claim the first European trophy since 1964. It has been a long time for Milan's blue and black striped team. Since the Special appeared in service, it has not disappointed. Inter Milan have won the last 5 league championships, but this is the one everyone wanted. Seeing AC Milan with the Dutch trio of Rudd Gullit, Marco Van Basten and Frank Rijkaard wishing for all those European trophies in the 90s must have hurt the Inter fans.
The German champions are not easy prey either. Under the leadership of Louis Van Gaal, the German team has quietly made it through the knockout stages to reach the final in Spain.
