In all my personal trips, the selection of accommodation is a very important part of the planning process. I try not to travel in group packages when I explore Asia, they usually take me to cashew nut factories, gem dealers and bird nest restaurants, none of which appeals to me. I also often stay in hotels that are crowded and quite worn out by groups of travelers brought in by travel agencies.
The Internet is my best source for planning a trip, I get great deals on hotels, transportation and on-the-spot arrangements, and great information, like reviews and recommendations from other travelers.
When taking a personal trip on a mid-range budget, it's not as easy as business travel where I can choose a reliable hotel chain and book a room. I personally choose my accommodation based on the following:
1. Location: close to the following, depending on the ท่องเที่ยวเอเชีย:

to. The skytrain / underground (for places like Bangkok, Singapore, London, etc.)
yes. Shopping malls or points of interest accepted, within a 10-15 minute walk
C. Good meeting, p. restaurants or pubs / bars / clubs
re. The beach or nothing for that matter (for pure relaxation, isolation can be therapeutic. I personally like the views of the rice field when in Bali)
Due to its location, I would try to stay away from the main streets, in the entertainment row (playing music at night is not fun or seeing men picking up scantily clad women), neighboring buildings with lots of light (which is quite common in Hong Kong),
2. Price: a very important factor, several sites offer very good discounts, these are some that I recommend, Asia Travel, Asia Hotels, Asia Best Hotel, PYO Travel. Asia Travel has been more reliable and has had no problems with online payments until now. For country-specific trips, there are other sites, some local, that offer better discounts. I will cover this in a related article. It is best to always compare offers from various sites, sometimes you can save quite a bit: you can always use extra money for the shopping budget: p
3. Traveler reviews: I use the Tripadvisor site religiously, they provide hotel ratings based on traveler ratings based on various criteria. This is important since the images of the rooms provided by the hotels are generally not accurate. I have often passed by a few hotels, as travelers mentioned that it was old or dirty, important facts that you cannot get in brochures or hotel websites.
4. Cleanliness - I am a Virgo and a clean environment is very important to me. Clean rugs, sheets, room walls, and bathrooms are needed. Heaven forbids the room or sheets to smell. I can't sleep any other way. I would sacrifice a small room for cleaning at any time. Try to choose hotels that have been recently opened or recently renovated. For the latter, make sure you are put in the new wing.
