Let's talk about the wonders of Ginger. There is an old Indian saying that says: "All good quality is contained in Ginger". Many health specialists begin to believe that this is true.

History shows that the ancient Indians, the Chinese, the ancient Greeks, and the Romans used ginger for medical reasons as well as for cooking with it.

There have been studies showing that ginger helps prevent nausea associated with dizziness, while other studies show that it helps prevent indigestion and abdominal cramps.

Studies show that ginger helps prevent heart disease by lowering blood pressure and helps prevent blood clots.

Still, other studies show that ginger contains anti-inflammatory substances that aid in the treatment of arthritis.

Hot ginger tea

3-4 teaspoons minced fresh ginger root, 2 cups very hot water, honey and lemon to taste.

Simmer the ginger root in the water for about 10 minutes. Let it sit for another 5 minutes. Pressure. Add honey and lemon if desired. Honey is a natural sweetener and much better in ginger tea than sugar.

If you visit an Asian food store, you can find instant ginger tea with honey already in it. It is sold in containers that have around 30 packages inside. Read the label carefully, some come with honey, while others contain white or brown sugar. You want the one that contains only ginger and honey.

You don't need to wait for a cold to enjoy this tea. Ginger tea is good anytime, and can be served hot or on ice for a nice refreshing summer drink.

Ginger is an item you will want to add to your herb list when dieting for health. It adds a lot of flavor and can keep food interesting while helping with your overall health.
