I was about 10 years old when I decided to learn boxing. Saying my parents were surprised would be an understatement of the year! They had both been trying to encourage me to exercise more for the past two years, but I hadn't been interested. I was a book lover and I preferred to stay indoors and read instead of going out and playing with my friends. I had friends, but they were like me. We were all intellectual, shy, and not physically active. My parents could not for the life of them discover why I wanted to learn to box.
Part of that was just my natural impulsiveness. Somehow it was as simple as one night deciding that he wanted to learn to box. Of course, there were more complex reasons behind my desire to learn boxing. One of them was the fact that I was kind of sick of being bullied at school. One child in particular always challenged me to fight. He was smaller than me, but much more vicious. He knew that if he could learn boxing, he could take him into a fight. That way, I would have more respect at school.
I'm sure my parents suspected this was part of my motivation to learn boxing, but they supported me anyway. They even bought me a punching bag and gave me junior boxing lessons. To tell the truth, the desire to learn วงการมวยโลก was not just about defending myself and my honor. He wanted to learn boxing because he wanted to be fit. I wanted to look tough. I wanted people to look at me and understand that I was an unbeatable force.
Above all, he wanted to learn something that no one else did. Many people in my school decided to learn martial arts, it was one of the most popular activities. However, few of them tried to learn boxing. He had fallen out of favor. It was too brutal, too inelegant and required much more training. You could learn martial arts by training an hour or two every week, but if you wanted to learn boxing, you had to be in the gym at least three or four times a week. Boxing seemed like a great American sport to me. It turned out to be a lot of fun too!
