It's an intense cat and mouse game where you are never sure where the wily major Nazi is hiding. The sniper hunt takes place during the Battle of Stalingrad where the fighting is fierce.

7. Kingdom of Heaven: Set in medieval times, this film is the story of a young man who ends up in the midst of the battles of the Crusade in Jerusalem. This takes place just before Richard the Lionheart begins his last crusade. It has Saladin, which makes the battles incredible. There is an epic final battle that everyone should see. The special effects and siege engines are spectacular in this movie. One of the most realistic siege battles to date.

6. Gettysburg: The bloodiest battle on American soil, Gettysburg has thousands of reenactors marching on the exact terrain on which the Federal Army and the Army of Northern Virginia fought. It shows the three-day battle that was a turning point in the Civil War and is shown from the perspectives of both sides, highlighting the fight for Little Round Top and Pickett's Charge. Other approaches include Longstreet and Lee's relationship as they have different strategic views, Armistead fighting on the opposite side of his old friend Hancock and the Chamberlain brothers.

5. The Last Samurai: A journey of a man who trains soldiers for the United States and its new ally, Japan, ends in the enemy camp. As he learns the customs of the samurai, he finds them enduring and is at peace with each other. A conflict arises in which he must choose between his old people and the Japanese imperial regime and the samurai who are being repressed. This movie has amazingly choreographed samurai battles and loads of bokken (wooden sword) training and kitana handling action. 4. Full Metal Jacket - A dark comedy / war movie set in the Vietnam War. Featuring many memorable characters including Pvt. Joker, Pvt. Cowboy, Mother Animal, Pvt. Pyle, Eightball, and R. Lee Ermey as none other than Gny. Sergeant. Hartman. With Ermey having a real experience as a gunnery sergeant, the boot camp scenes look very real. Stanley Kubrick directs a dark movie of soldiers who are under a lot of mental stress and how they cope.

5. Letters from Iwo Jima: Directed by Clint Eastwood, who also led the American side first in "Flags of Our Fathers." Surprisingly, this movie was more impressive and had a better performance thanks to Ken Watanabe. Watanabe played General Kuribayashi and delivers a stellar performance of honor and courage under fire. Obviously this story is the battle of Iwo Jima told through the eyes of the Japanese. Hud (1963) - Paul Newman is Hud, "the man with a barbed wire soul." Set in modern Texas, the film revolves around Hud's struggles with his stubborn father (Melvyn Douglas) and the anguish it brings to both men. Hud's nephew (Brandon de Wilde) is caught in the middle of the conflict, as is the family's attractive housekeeper, Alma (Patricia Neal). Receiving seven Academy Award nominations, Hud won Oscars for Best Cinematography (James Wong Howe), Best Supporting Actor (Douglas and Best Actress (Neal). The Far Country (1955): Set in Alaska, this western movie stars Jimmy Stewart as a tough-minded pioneer who decides to lead a herd of cattle to the Yukon and then participate in the Klondike Gold Rush. Along the way, he creates an enemy in the form of a corrupt judge (John McIntire) and then attracts the romantic affections of the same individual's business partner (Ruth Roman). The fourth of the five westerns that Stewart did with director Anthony Mann, each film showed the protagonist riding the same horse and wearing the same hat.
